Housing, particularly in the more desirable areas, can be quite expensive, with both rental and purchase prices significantly higher than in many other regions. The cost of groceries and dining out is also relatively high due to the fact that many food items have to be imported. Utilities such as electricity and water are also more expensive than in many other countries. Transportation costs can vary, but owning and maintaining a vehicle can be costly due to high import taxes on cars. However, public transportation is relatively affordable. Health care is of a high standard, but it can also be expensive, particularly for specialized treatments.
