Is the cost of living in St. George high?

We asked people how much they someone comfortably live on in St. George, they wrote:

"The cost of living in St. George is considered to be relatively high compared to other Caribbean islands. Housing is one of the most significant expenses, with rental prices for a one-bedroom apartment in the city center being quite steep. Utilities such as electricity, heating, cooling, and water can also be quite costly, especially during the summer months when air conditioning is often needed. Groceries in St. George are also more expensive than in many other places, with imported goods being particularly pricey. Eating out at restaurants can also be quite costly, especially at high-end establishments. Transportation costs can add up as well, with petrol prices being high and public transportation fares also adding to the monthly expenses. Healthcare in Barbados is of a high standard, but it comes with a high price tag, especially for those without insurance. Despite the high cost of living, many people find that the quality of life in St. George, with its beautiful scenery, friendly locals, and laid-back lifestyle, is worth the expense," said one expat in St. George.
