What do expats find most challenging?
We asked expats and digital nomads what they find the most challenging about the local culture in Cadiz. They wrote...
"Expats in Cadiz often find the language barrier to be the most challenging aspect of the local culture, as not everyone speaks English and the local dialect of Spanish can be difficult to understand. The slower pace of life can also be a challenge for those used to a faster, more hectic lifestyle. Additionally, the Spanish concept of time, particularly the late meal times and the siesta in the middle of the day, can be difficult to adjust to. Some expats may also struggle with the lack of certain amenities and conveniences they are used to from their home countries. Lastly, integrating into the local community can be challenging, as Spaniards often have close-knit groups of friends from childhood, making it difficult for newcomers to break into social circles," wrote a member who made the move to Cadiz, Spain.
