What are healthcare services like in Iloilo City?
We asked retirees if they have access to good medical care in Iloilo City. They wrote...
"Healthcare services in Iloilo City are generally accessible and affordable. The city is home to several public and private hospitals that offer a wide range of medical services. Public hospitals, such as Western Visayas Medical Center and Iloilo City Community Hospital, provide free or low-cost healthcare to residents, particularly those who are less privileged. Private hospitals, on the other hand, offer more specialized services and advanced medical equipment. Some of the well-known private hospitals in the city include The Medical City Iloilo, St. Paul's Hospital Iloilo, and Iloilo Mission Hospital. These hospitals are staffed with highly trained medical professionals and offer a wide range of services from general medicine to specialized surgeries. In addition to hospitals, there are numerous clinics, diagnostic centers, and pharmacies scattered throughout the city, making healthcare services readily available. The city also has several dental clinics and optical shops. The local government of Iloilo City is also actively involved in healthcare. They have programs aimed at improving the health and well-being of their residents, such as free vaccinations, health education campaigns, and regular medical missions. Despite these services, challenges still exist. Some residents in remote areas may find it difficult to access healthcare services due to distance and transportation issues. There are also concerns about the quality of care in some public hospitals due to overcrowding and lack of resources. Overall, while there is room for improvement, healthcare services in Iloilo City are generally comprehensive and accessible to its residents," mentioned another expat when asked about moving to Iloilo City, Philippines.
