Are foreigners allowed to own property in Playa Jaco?
When we asked expats in Playa Jaco if foreigners are allowed to own property, they answered...
"Yes, foreigners are allowed to own property in Playa Jaco. The country has a law known as the "Ley de la Reforma Agraria" which allows foreign citizens to purchase and own property in Costa Rica. The law also allows foreign citizens to obtain a mortgage from a Costa Rican bank to purchase property. However, foreign citizens must obtain a residency visa in order to purchase property in Costa Rica. Additionally, foreign citizens must register the property in their name with the Costa Rican government," wrote a member who made the move to Playa Jaco, Costa Rica.
