Do you have any advice or thoughts about culture shock you would like to share?
It will happen, no matter how well-adjusted you think you are! Some of the surprises come in the small ways, and some of them are quite large, but be prepared and do some pre-reading on your destination, and you'll be the better for it. (Continue)

What advice would you give someone preparing to move to your area about the actual move, choosing a neighborhood and finding a home?
Mussoorie is a hill station--and because of that, most directions include "up from" or "down past", and they're meant in the vertical sense. Be ready and able to walk, or get yourself a driver's license for a car, motorbike or scooter if you're not going to want to walk. Except for the monsoon, the climate is pretty mild. You can buy just about everything you'll need here or down the mountain in Dehradun, so pack your personal sentimental things - furniture, clothing, pots and pans, etc. are all readily available. Agreed, as I lived in Mussoorie for 4 years. But I really appreciated my winter coat--it gets really chilly in January! We wore winter coats in the house.
And don't bring any 110volt appliances, as somebody will at some point plug it directly in to 220volts and destroy it.
But the air is pure, the exercise is great, the people are friendly and helpful and accepting and reasonably honest.

How would you describe the facilities at this school? What extra-curricular activities are available?
Woodstock has excellent modern facilities, including a new gymnasium, an outdoor centre, a new science suite, several computer labs and wireless access throughout the school. (Continue)

Also offers AP courses (options available as early as Grade 10), IGCSE (grade 10 & up). Wireless internet across the campus is offered. Parents also have access to kids' marks throughout the year, and can get in touch with their children's teachers if they have questions - no need to wait til end of terms.
