Constanza?

Hi, we are presently living in rural Colombia (in the mountains), and are considering a move to the Dominican Republic. We think we might like it up top of the mountain ridge, maybe somewhere near Constanza. Ideally we would like to eventually get a small farm, with some hectares. Does anyone know if it is safe in the countryside around Constanza (or that area)?
We are quiet country people, and we keep to ourselves. We don't drink, don't go to bars, etc. We keep a pretty low profile, but it seems kind of hard to blend in 100% when you are 6'8" (haha).
Is there any drug cartel or gang activity to beware of in the mountains? (We don't go looking for trouble, but we don't want trouble or human trafficking or kidnapping to find us, either).
