Tips on doing Business in the PHI

Planning a trip to the Philippines in November to get a feel for the business climate and do some networking. I have friends who have already began to get the ball rolling on setting up a call center in Makati and I'm looking to make a move to Manila for a couple months to see what other opportunities exists. As for myself, I am half-filipino and have a good bit of family in the area. I grew up in the US, graduated from college here, and have been working in i-banking/finance for the past 6 years. I've got some savings that could last me several months if necessary. Can anyone provide any advice/tips on this decision and any other insight into the current economy?
