Cell Phone Use in the Phil

Call me stupid, but after being here for 8 months I did not know the cell phone policy with my carrier, Globe. I rarely use my phone, sometimes not at all during any given month. I do like to keep a little money in it in case I have an emergency at home or on the road. But today, I found out this is not possible. If I put 50 pesos in my phone and don’t use it in about 5 days, it will be gone. I believe 100-500 pesos will be good for 75 days, but if not used, this will be gone too. I kept wondering why every time I tried to use my phone it never had any money in it. Now I understand. So appears my only option is to make a 100 peso donation to the phone company every 75 days, just so I have it if I need it in an emergency.
