tips on buying a used vehicle

Just completing my purchase of a 2014 Turbocharged diesel Ford Everest. Watched 30 YouTube videos about buying a used car. Got several Philippine used car apps for my iPhone. Entered the jungle. First seller was telling me he was selling the Toyota Innova for his best friend who just left for Manila. The Toyota had only a 2017 Registration sticker. The Registration was actually in the name of the “supposed” father of the so called best friend who moved to Manila in 2016 according to the glove box documents. See you later Charlie.!f you accidentally buy a used car and get a final deed of sale from someone who is supposedly representing the owner, and you go to LTO to register it where they check the engine and body. numbers and find out it was chopped or stolen you go to jail for a long time here. The next seller was connected to a repair shop. The Ford Everest Registration was in the name of the cousin of the older pinoy gent who owned the shop and had a “Final Deed of Sale” 11 months old, the same as the Registration and insurance in his cousins name. After two trips to LTO, the shop brought out their big guns, and LTO finally inspected it, and my Registration is in the works. The insurance is supposed to be valid even in the cousins name (hmmm???). As soon as I get my LTO document, I’m getting my own insurance from BDO. Then I have to get an emissions test and go back to LTO and get my annual registration. Then I’m done. From the time I first viewed this MPV until I had the money 8 days later (650,000 pesos), the seat covers disappeared, there were different smaller floor mats, a window visor was broken an a door ajar light was on. However, I did take photos of all the documents in the glove box that later disappeared. I should have taken photos of all views of the MPV Ford. They said they “would have replaced the new mag rims and 20 inch tires but they couldn’t find the old ones”, (hmmm?? Filipino showing). I sat down in front of the front grille with the wheels turned to the far right and then left. Badly out of alignment. The shop sucks that one up. A mechanic turned the wheels straight and said “see” no problem (OMG!). They finally fessed up. What a gong show.
