Looking for a home

Hello everyone. I'll be moving to Cebu within the next year (I'm waiting for my dog with a heart condition to pass). I'm wondering what the best ways are to find a place to live. I've looked online (like you would here in the US) and not really seeing much of anything but when I was there in April/May, there were places everywhere. How would you recommend finding a place?
