What do I need to know before moving to Belarus?

When we asked people what advice they would give someone preparing to move to Belarus, they said:

"Before moving to Belarus, expats should be aware that the official language is Belarusian, although Russian is widely spoken. It is important to research the visa requirements for the country, as well as the cost of living and the availability of healthcare. Expats should also be aware that the currency in Belarus is the Belarusian Ruble, and that the country has a temperate continental climate with cold winters and warm summers. Additionally, expats should be aware that the culture in Belarus is quite traditional and conservative, and that it is important to be respectful of local customs and traditions," replied a member in Belarus.
