What advice do you have for expats having a baby in Munich?
We asked expat moms who gave birth in Munich about their experiences and advice they have for other moms to be. They said...
"Ask a lot of questions. Doctors are not forthcoming, especially if there is a language barrier. Educate yourself about the healthcare system, pregnancy and giving birth, and ask A LOT of questions," said another expat in Munich, Germany.
"1. Make sure to research the healthcare system in Munich and the surrounding area to ensure you are aware of the options available to you. 2. Consider enrolling in a childbirth preparation class to help you prepare for the birth of your baby. 3. Reach out to other expat parents in Munich to get advice and support. 4. Familiarize yourself with the local laws and regulations regarding maternity leave and childcare. 5. Make sure to register your baby with the local authorities as soon as possible. 6. Consider joining a local parent group or playgroup to meet other parents and build a support network. 7. Take advantage of the many cultural activities and attractions available in Munich to keep your baby entertained. 8. Make sure to take time for yourself and your partner to relax and enjoy the experience of becoming a parent," wrote a member who made the move to Munich, Germany.
