What advice do you have for expats having a baby in Peyia?

Answer this Question

We asked expat moms who gave birth in Peyia about their experiences and advice they have for other moms to be. They said...

"Firstly, it's important to familiarize yourself with the healthcare system in Cyprus. The country has both public and private healthcare, and as an expat, you may be eligible for free or subsidized healthcare if you are a European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) holder. Secondly, you should find a good obstetrician or midwife who you feel comfortable with. You can ask for recommendations from other expats or locals. Thirdly, it's crucial to understand the process of registering the birth in Cyprus. You will need to register the birth at the local municipality within 15 days of the birth. Fourthly, if you are not fluent in Greek, you might want to consider hiring a translator for your medical appointments and for the birth registration process. Fifthly, consider joining local expat groups or online forums. They can provide valuable advice and support during your pregnancy and after the birth. Lastly, remember to take care of your mental health. Having a baby in a foreign country can be stressful, so don't hesitate to seek help if you're feeling overwhelmed," remarked another expat in Peyia, Cyprus.
