"Firstly, it's important to familiarize yourself with the Dutch healthcare system. Prenatal care in the Netherlands is typically handled by a midwife, unless there are complications. Secondly, consider taking Dutch language classes if you haven't already. While many Dutch people speak English, understanding the local language can make medical appointments and hospital visits less stressful. Thirdly, look into the maternity and paternity leave policies in the Netherlands. The country has generous parental leave policies, but it's important to understand your rights and responsibilities. Fourthly, start looking for a kraamzorg, a maternity nurse who will come to your home after the baby is born to help with care and offer advice. This service is part of the Dutch healthcare system and is covered by insurance. Fifthly, consider joining local parenting groups or expat groups in Delft. These can be a great source of support and information. Sixthly, research childcare options in advance. There can be long waiting lists for daycare centers in the Netherlands, so it's a good idea to start looking early. Lastly, make sure you understand the process for registering your baby's birth. In the Netherlands, you must register the birth within three days at the local municipality," wrote a member who made the move to Delft, The Netherlands.
