What should I pack when moving to Discovery Bay?

Answer this Question

We asked people living in Discovery Bay to list three things they wish they had brought and three they wish they had left behind. They responded...

"When moving to Discovery Bay, you should pack light and breathable clothing, such as shorts, t-shirts, and sundresses, as the weather is generally warm and humid. Don't forget to include swimwear, as you'll likely want to take advantage of the beautiful beaches. Bring a light jacket or sweater for cooler evenings, as well as comfortable walking shoes or sandals. Pack essential toiletries, including sunscreen, insect repellent, and any necessary prescription medications. It's also a good idea to bring a small first aid kit with basic supplies like band-aids, pain relievers, and any over-the-counter medications you may need. Bring important documents, such as your passport, driver's license, and any necessary visas or permits. Make sure to have copies of these documents stored separately, in case of loss or theft. Pack a power adapter and voltage converter, as Jamaica uses different electrical outlets and voltage than many other countries. Don't forget to bring your electronic devices, such as your smartphone, laptop, and any necessary chargers. Consider packing a reusable water bottle, as tap water in Jamaica may not be safe to drink, and buying bottled water can become expensive. You may also want to bring some non-perishable snacks for when you first arrive, as well as any favorite foods or spices that may be difficult to find in Jamaica. Lastly, pack a few items to help you feel at home in your new surroundings, such as family photos, a favorite book, or a small keepsake. These personal touches can help make your transition to life in Discovery Bay a little bit easier," wrote a member who made the move to Discovery Bay, Jamaica.
