We asked people if there is a lot of crime. They answered...

"Uruguay is generally considered to be a safe country with low levels of crime. However, there have been reports of petty crime such as pickpocketing and theft in some areas, particularly in Montevideo. Violent crime is relatively rare, but it does occur in some areas. It is important to be aware of your surroundings and take sensible precautions when travelling in Uruguay," remarked another expat who made the move to Uruguay.
