Has anybody out there any experience or expertise with being officially "recognized" by a French parent?
My situation is this: I would like to obtain a French passport, and possibly French citizenship (and keep my U.S.). I was born in the U.S. of a French father and American mother, who were not married. Recently I found out that according to French law, I can ask my father to do a "reconnaissance de l'enfant" in France. But I can't determine from the online French laws whether the reconnaissance automatically makes me a French citizen, and how to go about getting further papers. I'd like to have a full picture before I approach my father.
Any advice or info sources will be much appreciated!
