In terms of religious, racial, economic and cultural diversity, are the people of this city or town diverse? Are they accepting of differences? Describe.

Not very diverse: the town is basically 1/2 white, 1/2 black with some hispanics and vietnamese. Predominately Catholic, but a tight Jewish community: a good portion of kids go to Catholic school even if not Catholic b/c public schools in Orleans parish are generally terrible. Most of the black population is poor, which creates racial tension as the crime pattern is predominately black. (see terrible schools)

What are the main industries in this city? What types of career opportunities commonly exist? How do most people find new jobs?

Hotel and Restauarants- anything to do with tourism. Law, Medicine, Education, too.

In general, what are peoples' priorities in this city? For example, do lives revolve around work, family, socializing, sports, etc.?

#1: Socializing
#2: Sports
#3: Work

New Orleanians are completely devoted to fun: they make a party out of everything! Priorities are family, friends, sports & other activities, and then work- as it should be.

If a friend of yours was thinking of moving to this city or town from far away, what other advice would you give them.

You need a car. Look in the Gambit for apartment listings and drive around. Traffic is bad, so be prepared if you want to live in the suburbs. Be prepared for summer weather 8 mos. of the year. If I hadn't lived here my entire life & needed a change, it is the greatest city to live in..
