Gas station fraud

Just want to get a message out there reference how I got scammed at a gas station recently:
On 2/28/2018, I was returning my rental car at Punta Cana Airport. I needed to top off the tank first. I stopped at the gas station nearest the entrance across from the Blue Mall. I told the attendant to fill the tank. I offered to pay with my Charles Schwab debit card (to avoid foreign fees). The attendant inserted the card and told me the charge didn"t go through due to a problem with the handheld device. He switched out the device for another and asked me to provide another card because the CS debit was blocked. I paid with a credit card. Later, I found out that he had entered an amount equivalent to $105 usd on my CS card. CS requested a receipt and one was provided with some type of signature not even close to my own. As of yet, I have not recovered my money. The case is still in dispute-- United Petroleum (main company) is claiming it was a legitimate transaction. I am providing information from my credit card company in an effort to make my case. To anyone in the Punta Cana area---don't do business with that gas station. This was not a mistake.
I can only speculate that he held the information in the first console, and then entered the amount after I was gone---printed the receipt and scribbled something that passed as my signature.

I know I shouldn't have used a debit card----lesson learned. I'm glad it wasn't more money.
