Dilemma

Hi there,

I'd like to ask you all for some help. I'm a married mother of one (she's almost 14 months now), 23 years old with only a highschool diploma (relevant work-experience aside) to speak of. My husband (an American) has failed to graduate highschool by 1 credit, but will make the jump this summer when visiting his family.

We both desperately want to move (back) to the States, and his family is more than willing to help out. Both financially as offering us places to stay etc.
However, I'm unwilling make the big move without being assured of a decent income; I want to provide a stable home for my child.

My plans were to start my bachelor study at the University of Leiden in Holland this september. After attaining my bachelor degree we'd move to the States.

After hearing horror stories of European university educations not being acknowledged by the US government and legal immigrants having to re-do them in the US I'm torn.

Should I take the financial risk: just move to the States with my daughter and husband and find a way to work and study (part-time) over there? Or should I take the risk of re-doing the study?

Do any of you know whether the rumors I've heard are true? Could it be due to the type of study (e.g. Psychology is pretty uniform and therefor accepted; World Religion can vary from university to university and is therefor less acceptable)? Or could it be due to the reputation of the university in question?

I'm not an expert on this subject, and I don't really know where else to go with this dilemma (all suggestions are welcome). I just want to make the decision that's best for my daughter (without withering away in the Netherlands for another decade..).

Thank you all so much for taking the time.
Lioni
