Is the cost of living in Alicante high?

"The cost of living in Alicante is considered to be relatively affordable compared to other major cities in Spain. Rent for a one-bedroom apartment in the city center is moderately priced, while it is significantly cheaper in the outskirts. The cost of utilities such as electricity, heating, cooling, water, and garbage is also quite reasonable. Groceries in Alicante are fairly priced, with local markets offering fresh produce at lower costs. Eating out at restaurants can vary, with inexpensive restaurants being quite affordable, while a three-course meal for two at a mid-range restaurant can be a bit more expensive. Public transportation in Alicante is also affordable, with monthly passes available at a reasonable price. Alternatively, owning and maintaining a car can be more expensive, with gasoline prices being quite high. Healthcare in Alicante is of high quality and is relatively affordable, especially if you are covered by the Spanish public healthcare system. Private health insurance is also available at varying costs. Overall, the cost of living in Alicante is lower than the average in Spain, making it an attractive place for expats and retirees," said one expat in Alicante.

Healthcare is also typically less expensive in Spain. However, the exact amount of money you could save depends on your lifestyle and spending habits. It's also important to consider factors such as income and job opportunities, as these can vary greatly between the two locations. Overall, many people find that they can live more affordably in Alicante than in the United States," said one expat in Alicante.

What is the average cost of housing in Alicante?

If you are thinking about moving to Alicante, cost of living in probably a key consideration. Expats commented about the cost of housing:

"The average cost of housing in Alicante can vary greatly depending on the location and type of property. For instance, in the city center, you might expect to pay a higher price compared to the outskirts. On average, you could expect to pay around €1,700 per square meter for an apartment in the city center. However, prices can drop to around €1,200 per square meter in less central areas. For rental properties, a one-bedroom apartment in the city center might cost around €500 per month, while a similar property outside the city center could cost around €400 per month. Please note that these are average prices and actual costs may vary," remarked one in Alicante.
