Is the cost of living in St. John's high?

We asked people how much they someone comfortably live on in St. John's, they wrote:

"The cost of living in St. John's, Antigua and Barbuda is considered to be relatively high compared to other Caribbean islands. This is largely due to the fact that most goods have to be imported, which increases their price. Housing is one of the most significant expenses, with rental prices varying greatly depending on the location and size of the property. In the city center, the cost of renting an apartment can be quite high, while outside the city center, the prices are somewhat lower. Groceries are also quite expensive in St. John's, as most food items are imported. This includes basic items such as milk, bread, and eggs, as well as fruits, vegetables, and meat. Transportation costs can also add up, especially if you rely on taxis or private cars. Public transportation is available and is a more affordable option, but it may not be as convenient or reliable. Eating out in St. John's can be costly, especially in tourist areas and high-end restaurants. However, there are also local eateries where you can find more affordable meals. Healthcare in St. John's is of a good standard, but it can be expensive, especially for specialized treatments or in case of emergencies. It is highly recommended to have comprehensive health insurance. Overall, while the cost of living in St. John's, Antigua and Barbuda can be high, it is also a place of great natural beauty and warm, welcoming people, which for many, makes the cost worthwhile," said one expat in St. John's.
