What advice do overseas retirees have for others considering retiring abroad?
When we asked what advice they have for others considering retiring abroad, they advised...
"Retiring abroad is an exciting opportunity and it can bring many advantages, but it also comes with potential risks. Therefore, it is important to do extensive research and planning. A good place to start is by learning about the cost of living, the healthcare system, local laws and taxes, possible housing options and how to go about making sure all the necessary paperwork is in order. Additionally, try to visit the area ahead of time to really get a feel of what life in the new location would be like and explore the possible activities and entertainment options that may be available. Building a local support network is also essential and can be made up of new friends, local expat communities or even expat forums online. Lastly, having a trusted financial advisor familiar with tax laws would also be recommended," said another expat in New Delhi, India.
