As a foreigner living in Belize City, will I have access to public healthcare? What is it like?

Answer this Question

We asked expats in Belize City if they have access to public healthcare in Belize City. And, if they do have access, what is it like. They wrote...

"As a foreigner living in Belize City, you will have access to public healthcare, but it is essential to note that the public healthcare system in Belize is not as advanced as in some other countries. The public hospitals and clinics provide basic medical services, and the quality of care can vary. In Belize City, the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital is the primary public healthcare facility, but it may not have all the specialized services or equipment that you might find in a more developed country. It is recommended that foreigners living in Belize also consider obtaining private health insurance to access private healthcare facilities, which often provide a higher standard of care and more specialized services," remarked another expat who made the move to Belize City, Belize.
