How many countries (other than your home country) have you lived in as a retiree?

One.

What have been the most challenging aspects of being retired abroad?

Belize having to deal with the ongoing banking restrictions. Its not that bad but getting a bank account opened requires a bit of patience.

What have been the most rewarding aspects of being retired abroad?

Great Lifestyle. The roads are getting better all the time in Corozal. We don't get high humidity and crime is very rare.

What would you do differently if you were just starting the retire abroad process?

I tried a few spots. Ambergris is a zoo, Cayo too hot. South is not protected from storms.

What is life like for a retiree in your city and its surroundings? (Is there an active expat community? Cultural Attractions? Recreation? Nightlife?)

We live in an area full of wildlife, Mayan temple and surrounded by water. Simply awesome ar Cerros Sands. Lots of expat interaction if that's what you want, or just live and do your own thing.

What residency documents or visas did you need to obtain to retire in your host country? How difficult was this process? (Please describe)

US passport.

Did you buy a home or apartment, or rent one? Is this a difficult process? (Please describe)

Built and rented numerous times.

Financially, has living abroad in your host country met your expectations? Exceeded them?

Exceeded! The stores have ground expotentially. You can get anything else easily shipped in. My dad is 97 and we ship in his favorite Cookies all the time.

What are the most important financial considerations for retiring to your host country?

Have enough funds to build what you want.

How much can a retiree live on comfortably in your host country?

1500 US a month, likely less is you own your own home.

Do you have access to quality medical care? (Please describe - is it close? Expensive?)

Cheap and good! Chetumal, Mexico is just over the border if you want to get a second opinion. Not expensive at all!
