Health & Education

Looking for advice on the following:

Healthcare coverage - In the UK we have private cover for my wife and I which has in recent years proved invaluable.

What are the requirements for Expats moving to Australia to take out the same type of cover, or do we pay in to a State scheme?

We our aged 57 and 51.

Education - my stepson has Asperger's and before we can move would want to know how the education and work sectors view young adults (he is 18 now) with these conditions.

In the UK the condition (a form of Autism) is recognised and youngsters welcomed into the education systems with support, and likewise the work environment as nearly always, and certainly with my step-son, he is highly intelligent and with support could gain entry to university.

Our belief is that we would be nett contributors to the tax system in Australia, both as an employer of Australian nationals through the Oz registered company in which I have a sizeable shareholding with colleagues who are nationals, and in funding any healthcare provision/insurance because of our age once we know what is required.

Happy to receive any guidance.
