Expat Destinations?

Hola,

So I get that Colombia was never really part of the 'Gringo Trail', with which I have some experience, and for which I am grateful. (Most anywhere that 'missed' the 80's-early 90's is better for it, excepting for those places where people were being disappeared during those otherwise golden years of modern progress:(((

Medellin sounds like it has peaked, Cartagena is too hot & pricey, Bogota is...Bogota, and Cali is still too iffy at best. (FWI, I grew up in NYC, Jamaica, Queens, to be precise, and have done all the big cities I care to at this time.)

SO, where is ground zero for the smart expats who *should* be getting in on the (above) ground floor in these 'uncertain' times/relocating to CO? The Coffee triangle? Manizalles (sp), Armenia, Cartago? Somewhere SECRET???;~) I'm coming with some bucks to stretch, and want to put 'em to good use in a smallish but vibrant and growing hood which is relatively not-too-corrupt and definitely not settled into extoriton as a way of life. (Ah yes, move to another country...) But seriously???
