What do I need to know before moving to Puerto Princesa City?

When we asked people what advice they would give someone preparing to move to Puerto Princesa City, they said:

"Before moving to Puerto Princesa City in the Philippines, expats should know that English is widely spoken, making communication relatively easy. The city is known for its cleanliness and strict environmental laws, so it's important to respect these rules. The cost of living is relatively low compared to Western countries, but it's still higher than in other parts of the Philippines. Healthcare facilities in Puerto Princesa are adequate for minor health issues, but for serious conditions, you may need to travel to Manila. Expats should ensure they have comprehensive health insurance that covers medical evacuation. The city is generally safe, but like anywhere, it's important to take precautions, especially at night. The climate is tropical, with a dry season from November to May and a wet season from June to October. Public transportation is readily available, including tricycles, jeepneys, and vans. However, traffic can be heavy, especially during peak hours. The city is known for its natural beauty, including the famous Underground River, so there are plenty of outdoor activities to enjoy. However, it's also important to be aware of potential natural hazards, such as typhoons and earthquakes. The food in Puerto Princesa is a mix of Filipino and international cuisines, with seafood being a specialty. Finally, it's important to respect local customs and traditions, which may be different from what expats are used to," explained one expat living in Puerto Princesa City, Philippines.
