The city is also home to several beaches, providing opportunities for leisurely walks and relaxation. There isn't a large expat community in Sokcho, but the city is quite welcoming to foreigners. English is not widely spoken, so learning some basic Korean would be beneficial. However, the younger generation and those working in the tourism industry often speak English. Culturally, Sokcho has a lot to offer. The city is home to several Buddhist temples, including the Sinheungsa Temple, which is a popular tourist attraction. The Sokcho City Museum and the Teddy Bear Farm Museum are also worth visiting. The city's fish market is a great place to experience local cuisine and culture. Recreational activities in Sokcho are largely centered around its natural beauty. Apart from hiking and beach activities, retirees can enjoy fishing, golfing, and even hot springs. The city also hosts several festivals throughout the year, including the Sokcho International Ice Fishing Festival and the Seorak Cultural Festival.
