Do you have any other thoughts you would like to share about retiring abroad?

Retirees who have chosen to retire overseas have several tips for those thinking about joining them. Study the language of the country being considered, as conforming to local customs and language can make a difference in how welcomed the retiree will feel and how easy it will be to pursue activities. Research local services and amenities, especially medical and other healthcare options, as this is often an area of concern for those moving abroad. Research residency laws, import taxes, and other information that may be required in the chosen country. Consider how safe the location is and how feasible it is to travel back home to visit friends and relatives. Remember that retiring abroad may mean experiencing a much different lifestyle than at home, both in terms of cost of living and availability of entertainment, activities and other amenities. Take the time to research and compare different locations, to ensure a satisfactory and safe retirement experience.
