Livingston is not as popular with expats as other parts of Guatemala, such as Antigua or Lake Atitlan, but there is a small, close-knit expat community. The expats who choose to retire in Livingston are often attracted by the laid-back lifestyle, the natural beauty of the surroundings, and the opportunity to immerse themselves in the local culture. The town is surrounded by lush tropical rainforest and is located on the Caribbean coast, offering plenty of opportunities for outdoor recreation.
