Snowfall on Lake Zurich, Switzerland

As a foreigner living in Zurich, will I have access to public healthcare? What is it like?

Answer this Question

We asked expats in Zurich if they have access to public healthcare in Zurich. And, if they do have access, what is it like. They wrote...

"Yes, as a foreigner living in Zurich, you will have access to public healthcare. The public healthcare system in Switzerland is known for its high quality and is considered one of the best in the world. It is funded by taxes and is available to all residents, regardless of their nationality. The system is divided into two parts: basic health insurance and supplementary insurance. Basic health insurance covers most medical costs, including doctor visits, hospital stays, and prescription drugs. Supplementary insurance covers additional costs such as dental care, alternative medicine, and home nursing," remarked another expat in Zurich, Switzerland.
