Internet Access in Costa Rica
View/Add Comments (0 Comments) |
There are lots of options, especially in the Central Valley, for Internet access in Costa Rica. ADSL via landline telephone, cable Internet, WiMax and cellular service are the most popular. There is still dialup but it is so slow as to be unusable. It's pretty cheap, too. Our DSL line at 2Mbps costs us about $30/month and has been reliable. Cellular offers faster top speeds than that but it's a shared network so the speed really drops at peak usage times. There are always Internet cafes, too, and very often coffee shops have free WiFi.

View CREnvy's ProfileI'm on my third career in life that of being voluntarily unemployed! The first two were house construction and later hi-tech as a software engineer. I was fortunate to be able to retire early in Costa Rica back in '07. With my wife and younger son we bought land and built a dream house with that million-dollar view you hear so much about. We spend time raising coffee, bananas, and fruit trees. My wife is an accomplished artist and has discovered new media to express herself here including beautiful ceramic mosaics. Pura vida! P.S. Now, in 2021, planning our next move ... to México!
