Work permit for spouse

My wife and I are US citizens and I'm currently weighing a transfer to the Bahamas. I hear it's not easy for non-Bahamians to get a work permit but my wife is hoping she'll also be able to work. She has a college degree and speaks several languages so is hoping that can help her in her quest for a job and permit.

Welcome to the forum. If you read past answers, you will have a good idea of how work permits work. Your wife would need to be offered a job first and the company would apply for her work permit. The best bet for you is to see if there is a position in your company that is opening. If your wife’s professional skills are in this area, she would have a better shot at getting work. May I ask which Island you would be on? And what types of professional positions your wife has held in the past? These would be helpful in guiding you. As unemployment is very high in some places, the process would be more difficult. Reading past posts on this site is a fabulous way to learn all sorts of answers to work permit questions, where to live, services available, etc. Hope this is helpful. Be blessed.

Thanks for your response. We would be moving to Nassau; my company has a contract with a property at Baha Mar. My wife is currently working as a legal secretary, but has prior work experience in human resources. She's seen a number of jobs posted on the Baha Mar career site that she should be qualified for.
