There is no public transportation in Whitianga, however there are international schools and a low cost of living, with prices in local currency, Euros and USD being relatively low. In the summer, Whitianga is a popular tourist destination, with plenty of activities and attractions to keep visitors entertained. Yearly rental properties can be found in the area, with a two bedroom near the water costing around NZD$1,500-2,000 (€900-1,200, USD$1,000-1,400) and a three bedroom costing around NZD$2,000-2,500 (€1,200-1,500, USD$1,400-1,800). The nightlife in Whitianga is quite relaxed, with a few bars and restaurants such as The Lost Spring, The Mussel Kitchen and The Wharf offering a variety of cuisines. For grocery shopping, there are both big chain stores such as Countdown and smaller stores such as The Whitianga Four Square. People enjoy living in Whitianga for its laid-back atmosphere, stunning beaches and close proximity to Auckland., New Zealand
