Puerto Lopez is a small fishing village that is primarily home to a local population of Ecuadorians. While it may not be as diverse as larger cities, it does see a fair amount of international tourists due to its proximity to the Machalilla National Park and its reputation as a great spot for whale watching. As a popular tourist destination, the locals are generally accepting and welcoming of people from different backgrounds and cultures. However, like any place, individual experiences may vary.
