Spouse working - can I work from home

Hi
My wife has been offered a job in the Bahamas on Nassau.

I understand I cannot work for a company in the Bahamas without a working visa but can I work for people outside the Bahamas while still living there? I am thinking of old clients in the UK who I can produce work for and send over the internet.

I have looked in the forum/resources and can't seem to find an answer. Does anyone have direct experience of that?
Thank you!

Who knows, who sees? Just don't ask it again and keep a low profile.

Hiya,

The toughest thing about not having the work permit is having to leave the country every 3 months. However you shouldn't need to do that seeing as you are married and your wife will have a permit.

My boyfriend ended up doing some transcription work for an american company - as far as I can tell working online for an overseas company is completely fine.

All I would say is that the cost of living here is expensive. Everything is imported so you pay a premium even for standard, essential products.

In the beginning it was very hard to sustain renting and eating and paying bills etc all on one salary. But then I am a first year teacher so I make peanuts!

Any other questions then please let me know! Very happy to help as it is so hard to find reliable information about the Bahamas online from the UK. Don't believe all the horror stories.
Driving is fine, cars are more expensive but don't really devalue.
It is not the hotbed of crime that people would have you believe! You just have to keep your wits about you.

Jeffercakes.

Listen to Dolfie - Officially, you cannot earn an income here from anywhere without a work permit. Officially, you cannot volunteer - cannot take work away from a potentially paid Bahamian.

Listen to dolfie.
