Just an interesting thought .... who are the ex-pats supporting?

Do you support the team from your old country? Or your host country, Colombia?

I have to confess, I have never really supported England, my "birth country", as I believe most of the English players are over-rated, over-paid, and they think they are the best in the world, but can never prove it on the field. They don't want to work hard enough, but revel in the glory, money and fame that football brings them.

Colombian players, on the other hand, only rise up through the ranks by hard work, and hard work is second nature to them. People like Teofilo Gutierrez actually grew up in the slums of Barranquilla, a kid living in extreme poverty, kicking a ball around in the street. He fully deserves everything he has achieved. Given a chance, and rising to world class football, and now has one of the highest honours, playing for his country in the world cup, and then scoring a goal, and also assisting in other goals by his team-mates. Whether or not you like football, he fully deserves the respect and admiration of Colombians, and all people throughout the world. He has earned it.

Or do your ties to your old country mean that you have to support them, regardless of merit, just for "patriotism" ?
