Considering moving to Colombia

Hello!

I am considering moving to Colombia for a couple of years from Boston, MA US. My boyfriend is a dual citizen of Venezuela and Colombia. He just finished his masters degree here in the USA but is having a very difficult time finding a job here in his field (which is a requirement for his visa).

I speak fluent Spanish and have traveled to Colombia and several other Latin American countries. I am open to moving to Colombia for a couple of years, but I am worried about finding work and maintaining a good quality of life while saving money.

I have a good job here in the USA (professional, able to save about $1000 USD/month). I can work remotely, but not from outside of the country. Our current plan is for my boyfriend to move to Colombia first, find a job and apartment, etc, and for me to relocate to Miami in the meantime. In Miami I will be able to save more due to lower cost of living and no income tax. This way I can save up some money before I go.

What are your thoughts and recommendations? What should I be concerned about? Will I be able to find a good job as a foreigner who speaks English as a first language, Spanish as a second language? I have 5 years of supply chain and human resources experience and a degree from a well known university in Boston. Or, will I need to be an English teacher? If so, how long do I need to prepare for those certifications?
