Buying Airline ticket from TAMP to MEDELLIN - Need your Wisdom!

Hello everyone. I need your help and Happy Holidays I should say :-)

I just lived in Medellin for over six months getting a feel for the city (From Nov 2015 to JUNE 2016). I bought a round ticket via COPA for about $650.00 which I thought was pretty fair. Tampa - short stop in Panama - Medellin and same on my way back. Unlike a prior experience with Spirit, I loved Copa in every sense, all very simple and clear… no surprises. Copa allowed me: Two 50 lbs suitcases, carry on (20 lbs) and in my case, a backpack full of electronics and books. Pretty fair I thought.

Now, I am trying to do the same, except I just want a ONE way ticket and I find, what with Copa at least, it is almost as expensive as the TWO WAY ticket!... which you can find as cheap as $610.00 for March, since I have flexible dates, whereas the ONE ticket will cost about $450 or more.

Most importantly,I just want you to give me your GOLDEN NUGGETS OF WISDOM on this subject before I start searching seriously.

I.e. I used to like KAYAK.com but now I find it just like the others, all basically the same. I heard something about “Google Flights” (I think it’s called,) and I found it by accident and like it a lot so far… just like Google… it gives you all kinds of choices to search including a monthly CALENDAR that opens showing you the different prices of the same flight depending on the date. So you can actually choose the cheapest one, of the days you can fly. I’ve seen this CALENDAR before, but it is not very common and can’t find it again in any of the regulars I’ve seen.

B) JETBLUE: I also noticed JetBlue is one of the least expensive ones except for Spirit which I eliminate from any search outright. But what about JETBLUE?... anyone familiar with this airline flying to Medellin? In fact I found a ticket for $219 (all included) It allows ONE free 50 lbs piece, The second one is $40, third $75…. That means I could fly for $336 with 3 50lbs suitcases!... great if you carry a lot of stuff.

TIA

Eddie
