Rionegro Antioquia

For anyone considering moving to the Rionegro area... Please think again!

Recently, the current mayor (alcalde) of Rionegro has issued a mandate that, there will be no more inter-municipio transit allowed between Rionegro and other municipalities. The new plan is, all inter-municipio transports, will not be allowed to enter Rionegro. They will be required to disembark their passengers far from Rionegro and San Antonio. Even Llano Grande is excluded from entering Rionegro, even though it's within the Rionegro municipality.

Also, there are currently several independent intra-city bus companies, which are being forced to consolidate into a single company. Imagine what that will do to public transportation costs.

This new plan is to be implemented on April 1, 2019 and absolutely no planning has gone into it. The points at which inter-city transport companies, including collectivo taxis, have zero infrastructure and are in ver rural areas. That means, if you want, for example, to travel from La Ceja to Rionegro, you will have to disembark at Falabellas and wait at the side of the road for a local Rionegro bus or taxi to come by and pick you up. You could very well be waiting in the rain for awhile.

The other side of it is, your cost will increase because, the inter-city transports will not be lowering their fares and, with no competition, Rionegro local transport fares will rise. This is problem the worst thing the alcalde could have done for the Rionegro area.

Colombian politicians are notorious for their corruption and I wonder who's looking for it in this case.
