Buying or importing Furniture and Appliances

Several times this year I've talked with gringos who want to bring furniture from US or Europe. I encourage them to come here first and rent a furnished Airbnb for a few months to make sure they actually want to live here.
And, it is very important to find the apartment or house you want to live before you bring your furniture and appliances. Because they might not fit the rooms in your new place.
I've been looking at a lot of apartments and houses for rent lately, and the newer apartments have very small rooms. A queen size bed and dresser and night stands will not fit in many master bedrooms here.
Many kitchens have an under-sized slot for the refrigerator. One apartment I rented the upper cabinets were too low to fit my refrigerator, so I had to set it across the room at the edge of the dining room.

Make sure your stuff fits before renting the apartment, or, if you rent the apartment first, measure carefully so you buy the appropriate size appliances and furniture.

One gringo I met had a big dining room in his previous house in Cali, but now he wants to move and he is finding all the apartments have small dining room that will not fit his dining room set, so he is trying to sell it for half what he paid for it.
