Motorcycle mechanical revision

This past week transito in Armenia pulled me over and as usual asked me for my ownership of moto. What caught me by surprise is that my 3 year old moto was supposed to have a mechanical review by an authorized shop. So, after a brief exchange and not having paperwork that my moto was checked out by a tecnico shop my moto was hauled off on top of a tow truck. So, as a foreigner here I asked the transit rep how does one know about certain rules of the road here and about what revisions are needed or not. I mean I never received a notice or anything that something was due. The transit person of course didn't know either about notices. So to help you all out and what he explained to me is that for the first two years of owning the moto no revision to the moto is needed but every year afterwards it is required and you should carry proof that nothing is wrong with the moto. However, the soat does not require proof of this inspection prior to purchasing their policy. Hope this helps.
