Another 3,000km KIA road trip

I have been gone for almost 2 weeks now, plan on returning to my home in Medellin this weekend.

Right now it is 5:20 AM as I write this brief post in Villa de Leyva hotel as I cant sleep, it is just tooooo quiet here, literally it is too quiet and I am in a hotel right off the main plaza, go figure.

I have put 2,670 km on my car in the past 2 weeks on this road trip, too much to list but basically started in Medellin and headed north, a few days in Rodadero and Santa Marta, then a few days in Tayrona, then headed east to Riohacho, then down to Valledupar then 3/4 days in CUCUTA doing volunteer work which so far is the high light of this trip, then Bucamaranga, next San Gil/Barichara and arrived yesterday in Villa de Leyva.

This trip is different as I have invited along a lady friend from Medellin who is a costena, and I can write a book on how different we, I should say I, have been treated in hotels and restaurants and everywhere else in all the northern coast by costenos, wow is all I can say from what I have experienced, these costenos can give a rats ass about gringos and tourists but when you are traveling with their blood people, like my lady costena friend who can also be a real bitch well the costenos respect this and don't give the usual F*@k You attitude.

I have had more interesting experiences and interactions in these past 2 weeks than on any of my prior long road trips, I think my increased level of spanish is the reason.

Enough ranting for now, I hope that the road block clears up down south as I had planned on spending the most part of April back in exploring Ecuador.
