I think I like Colombia

Hi all,

I currently live in Washington state. I was rear ended a few years ago and it has definitely changed my life. In addition to rreeaallyy slowing me down, I've realized I need to get out of here and start living. Freshly divorced, selling the house, closing the contracting business...Adios Gringos!

I've had my eye on Costa Rica, but it seems like that's becoming a lost paradise. Panama is attractive financially but pretty limited and a little to American.

A lot of people from those places seem to like Colombia better these days. I can see why, in so many ways.

But I just wanted to say that reading the Colombia forum is like visiting with old friends. It's interesting, posters are friendly and supportive. A very different mood from the other forums. I'm not bad mouthing them. There are some really good people. But this one really stands out. I'm thinking that maybe it's a reflection of expat life in Colombia overall.

I'm going to have to get down there and check it out. I'm 66. Just looking for an affordable and comfortable retirement. Any suggestions for scoping out Medellin in June/July for a week or two?
