Personalized Covid 19

Lots of theory about Covi-19 being a hoax or global conspiracy to gain power/control but so far I have seen nothing on this forum about personal experience. So this is what is happening in our household.

We have already had one family death, a cousin in Spain, and my front line son in law in the UK who is recovering from a nasty bout.

Colombia has been lagging but the full force is presently with us.

In Colombia we have an aunt in her eighties,now in a bad way and awaiting her test results but the doctors tells us to expect the worst.

We share a maid with this aunt and although she has no symptoms she is scheduled for the test in three days when the “waiting” period for the virus is up. If the maid has the virus, then we (our household) and about another dozen family and other potential contacts will also have to stand in line.

The bad news, the majority of those involved are all of that vulnerable age and medical condition that suggests we may have some fatalities (me included).

Have we or perhaps just one person been taking unnecessary risks? No, quite the contrary, most of us elderly have not set a foot outside since March. We sanitize everything within sight and our water bills have shot up with all the extra washing and our collection of masks, shields, etc is taking over the house. We even pay for our maid to travel between our households by private taxi that we have faith in. In short, this virus is virtually impossible to escape if you are in the wrong list.

What else do I want to add? Just that all those persons that are rebelling against precautions that rob them of their rights are extremely selfish and have no conscience of what it takes to live in a community. YES, there is a problem (Economic health v/s Human health) and this requires some compromises. Those who choose to insist upon their individual liberties and rights for the time it takes are offering no compromise.

An observation: We have prepago health insurance with Colsanitas and Sura. Both have been very helpful and attentive so far and are guiding us through the tracing procedures. Sura appear slightly superior to Colsanitas.
