When I lived in Bogota, I recall my weekend getaways to warm weather towns such as Melgar, Anapoima, Girardot and other areas where you can transition from 60° F 80 F and above. My weekend trips were filled with joy, warm weather, swimming pools and carefree lifestyle. Curious to know from any of you that live in Colombian warm weather regions how things are going for you? I lived in warm weather climates such as Miami and Tampa and although very hot, there was reprieve for at least 4 months out of the year. I also noticed that in the Colombian interior, warm weather regions, the heat was not as exasperating as it was for me in Miami or Tampa. On the other hand, when I went to Cartagena or Santa Marta, I found the heat similar to South Florida. Another interesting observation, in warm weather regions the majority of Colombians do not use air conditioning. My wife's relatives who live in Bucaramanga do not use air conditioning and really dislike it. I probably couldn't sleep without it! Being that Colombia offers many climates, I believe it comes down to selecting the right altitude where you're most comfortable, but the "tierra caliente" towns have a very "alegre" vibe! I also recall seeing just about everyone riding around on small displacement motorcycles and the weekends being full of "rumba" and much activity in the town square.
