Bogota minus 12 days

Well, me and my wife will finally be there in 12 days after both retiring here in FL a month ago. We've waited years for this now, lol. Especially over the last six months we've shipped like 20 or more boxes to my wife's family home (we'll stay there a while), bought a little land in mtns just outside bogota. Here's the latest:
1) From where we've been shipping boxes from successfully, just found out they also do forward shipping. So I can set up an online account on their website, and from Amazon order and ship to the company’s address; once merchandise arrives, then they'll ship our orders to our address on file in Colombia. This week I'll set up account and try ordering something to test how their process works out.

2) Wells Fargo has an "express send" service with bancolombia, $4 transaction cost, so we can use that to transfer to my wife's account there, so that will work for transferring funds on a monthly basis.

3) Trying to leverage cash, am still working with friends of family, doctors, attorneys, friends of friends, etc, so as to explore at first putting down like 5 grand to get a 10 grand lil used pickup truck; explore possibility of getting some credit established so as not to initially burn through cash. You know, the ole adage, use other peoples money. Also the same with bancolombia, to see if can get a secured credit card. That way again, just to get established. Same thing with construction for that lot we have, maybe with home center. Then pay off things quickly as colombian credit is expensive.

4) I know things are a bit rough there right now but plan on keeping a low profile, take things a day at a time till things calm down. On the positive side the exchange rate on dollar's pretty good right now, and all you guys are doing well, so figure, another expat in the ranks can't hurt.
