as one poster has pointed out if you can teach kids in an English speaking country you can easily find a teaching job at a top private school.

I know two people that taught at two of the top private schools in bogota. both were earning around $12 million cop a month. this was 4 years ago. both left Colombia after living there for around 10 years. ones teaching in Hong Kong and the other teaching somewhere in South East Asia.

not sure about medellin. however I do know that school fees are significantly less (50%) in Medellin. a friend has two daughters at arguably medellin's best school.

another friend teachers at a top school in Cartagena. he earns about $8 million a month.

There are some pricey-private schools here in Medellin that have some very good programs for American teachers, like a free apto. in which to live, free health insurance, plus a monthly salary. The teacher pays the utilities, their cell phone, etc. These schools take care of the airfare/visa/cedula/healthcare applications. The teaching contract is for two(2) years, but few teachers remain here for the entire two(2). years. To answer your next question...I do not know the names of the Private Schools. I met a guy 2 yrs. ago who was here on one of those programs. His school actually had a bus that picked him up at 6:30 a.m. and brought him back at 4:00 p.m. I feel sure that Private Schools in Bogotá & Cali offer similar programs. Check it out online. Buena Suerte !
